Budapest

Hey Guys its Nelly here! So I am currently trying to tick off as many European cities as I can and most recently I got the chance to travel to Budapest! Wow, what a beautiful city. So for those of you who have never been, Budapest is a city of two halves – on the one side of the river you have Buda and on the other you have Pest. The city itself really does have something for everyone from the beautiful historic architecture, the outdoor café culture, cheap beer to hidden cocktail bars and underground raves. It really is a city that you can while away the hours wondering around and absorbing the culture and charm.

Several tourist attractions that are well worth a visit are, firstly, the Hungarian National Museum which has an impressive number of exhibits that are all housed in a neo-classical building from 1846. Furthermore is the Great Synagogue which is in fact the largest in the world of its kind. The Holocaust Museum is not for the faint hearted but is definitely a recommended see. It depicts Hungary’s position in the second world war and the impact the war had on its people. There are some very graphic and horrific images and stories within the museum that will most certainly stay with you for the remainder of your visit. Another must do whilst in Budapest is a visit to one of the many bath houses, Szechenyi is probably the best and is in fact the biggest bath house in all of Europe. It boasts an abundance of pools to lounge around in, ranging from steaming hot to freezing cold and is a great way to spend an afternoon – or two!

I have a few more things I would like to add here but I think I will save them for another time, viszontlátásra!
